An Olympian, a CEO, a blogger, an author, and an engineer walked into a room last night.... Jokes aside,  International Women's Day came to Surrey in style yesterday with a networking event held by the University of Surrey. The celebration brought together women from across STEM (science, technology, maths and engineering) fields and invited women to discuss this year's theme: #BeBoldForChange This included insights from: author Adele Parks, Mercer CEO Fiona Dunsire, Olympian and diplomat Cath Bishop, blogger activist Emily Revess, entrepreneur Pauline Yau, and Mclaren Automotive engineer Alex Trebilco. (Picured left) Each shared their own personal experiences facing sexism in the workplace and encouraged women to step up and take control of their future. Makerspace update – February 2017

Here’s an update with what we’re up to.  There’s a lot going on.  Unless otherwise stated, all activities take place at Guildford library.  People can book places on the events via www.guildfordmakerspace.org.uk/ Digital Friday:  This is the concept of monthly workshops for adults, mainly.  We’ve rebranded this as “ Makerspace:  Get Involved ” and have a programme planned that looks like this: ·          February:   Tablet tea-and-teach for the over-55s and                        Junior Games Creators workshops.                                                                                                   ...
