Digital Paper Crafts at Guildford Library 27 January 10.00am-12.30pm

Save and bring your Christmas cards, and learn how to use our digital paper cutter to turn them into many new things, including crowns, baubles and cards. .

An additional draw, on the same day in the library: "Trotec Laser will bring the Speedy 100 CO2 laser cutter to the event. It has a 600 x 300 mm working area and is capable of cutting or engraving intricate designs on almost any organic material including card, paper, plastics (not PVC), glass and stone. The easy-to-use JobControl software simplifies the process of sending designs which have been created in CorelDraw, or imported from other CAD or DTP software, directly to the laser machine. Visitors to the event can see what's possible when processing paper and other organic materials with a Trotec laser cutter, and will even have the opportunity to bring along their own ideas to try on the Speedy 100."

Cost £3. Please go to https://digitalpapercrafts.eventbrite.co.uk to book a place.

British Science Week..end!

I t might be Friday but there’s still plenty of time to celebrate British Science Week, with events and activities planned across the country this weekend. Guildford has a proud history as a hub of science and technology, with the world-class Research Park hosting some incredible pioneering companies.  These include the games company 22Cans  started by Peter Molyneux   - founder of Lionhead Studios, which went on to be bought by Microsoft and produce the popular Fable games. Surrey Satellite Technology , defence contractor  BAE systems , industrial gasses supplier BOC and mobile developer  Volantis  are other examples of the great mix of scientific minds that call Guildford home. Check out the official  British Science Week   events map  to see what’s on in your area, and use the hashtag #BSW17 to share the fun online!  Above: British Science Week events being held nearby

Welcome to Digital Fridays

Surrey Libraries are running Digital Friday events starting on 26 June 2015 and will be held on the last Friday of every month at Guildford Library . Digital Friday is a programme of events which will take place on the last Friday of the month at Guildford library.  The aim is to establish the library service's reputation as making interesting digital things happen, to make contacts within relevant local organisations, and to build a list of people willing to act either as steering group members or as volunteers for a possible makerspace. If you would like to add your name to the list, please email: virtuallibrary@surreycc.gov.uk This blog is to share information about our Digital Friday events.
