Digital Storytelling for Creative Writers Monday 27 June 2pm-4pm at Caterham Valley Library

Are you a creative writer who would like to try something new? This session will focus on creating interactive fiction online using Inklewriter software .  Interactive fiction is a genre of writing that allows the writer and reader to branch off in different directions with the story, and can provide endless possibilities as to where that story ends up. This workshop session will include a brief introduction to interactive fiction, but the main focus will be a hands-on introduction to Inklewriter, with the aim of creating your own short piece of interactive fiction by the end of it. Computers will be provided for the session. This event is free but please book a place This session is part of the Caterham Festival 2016 #digifriday

Raspberry Pi - Saturday 4 June 11am - 4pm

After the stellar success of our previous event during British Science Week, Guildford Library is hosting a brand new Jam!  We've invested in new supporting technology including more monitors and a local network to make things even better than last time.  Come along and learn a thing or two about your Pi(s), bring as many of your own projects as you can to show off or get help with, or just have a play on one. This event is for all ages.  (A Raspberry Pi, for those of you who don't know, is an astonishingly cheap and small computer that can be used in all kinds of ingenious projects).  Bring your own lunch.   This event is free but please book a place   #digifriday

Read, Watch, Play #songread 31 May

Read, Watch, Play is an online reading group and on the last Tuesday of each month a different theme is discussed.  This month's theme is #songread and includes: reading a novel with a musical theme:  An Equal Music by Vikram Seth,  High Fidelity by Nick Hornby for example or a biography about your favourite singer.  Watching a DVD or YouTube video of a rock legend in concert or playing their all time best album; it all encompasses Read, Watch, Play. Join us @SurreyLibraries on twitter for #rwpchat on Tuesday 31 May from 9am-11am and 2pm-4pm.  Use the tags #songread and #rwpchat as you tweet so that others can join in the conversation too.  You can follow the discussion on twitter at Read, Watch, Play checkout  Surrey Libraries Read, Watch, Play Pinterest board or our blog for ideas.  Or just read a book about this month's theme to join in. #rwpchat
