  1. Good to read about this Digital Friday event. Sounds truly wonderful! I am an IT student too and prefer attending such events to attain knowledge about recent tech-trends. Have been plans for attending upcoming tech event at local seattle convention center as have heard a lot about it.

What happened at the Minecraft sessions at Redhill Library

What is a  Minecraft Party you are probably wondering?   Redhill Library  has run two very successful Minecraft Parties, one in the summer holidays and the latest in October half term. They both took place on Wednesday afternoons from 2.00 – 5.00. Ten computers were made available exclusively for children to play Minecraft on, some children had pre-booked, some came along on the day. On both sessions, 20 children came over the course of the afternoon, most were boys but there were some girls as well. Their ages were between 7 and 11. A Minecraft server was set up beforehand and if children had their own Minecraft PC account log in they were able to connect to the server. This meant they could build and create in the same world as other children who had also joined the server. British Science Week..end!

I t might be Friday but there’s still plenty of time to celebrate British Science Week, with events and activities planned across the country this weekend. Guildford has a proud history as a hub of science and technology, with the world-class Research Park hosting some incredible pioneering companies.  These include the games company 22Cans  started by Peter Molyneux   - founder of Lionhead Studios, which went on to be bought by Microsoft and produce the popular Fable games. Surrey Satellite Technology , defence contractor  BAE systems , industrial gasses supplier BOC and mobile developer  Volantis  are other examples of the great mix of scientific minds that call Guildford home. Check out the official  British Science Week   events map  to see what’s on in your area, and use the hashtag #BSW17 to share the fun online!  Above: British Science Week events being held nearby
